Queen’s Coupe Cocktail

Ingredients

  • 1 oz gin (London dry works beautifully)
  • ½ oz fry Vermouth
  • ½ oz fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ oz simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 2–3 dashes orange bitters
  • Chilled Champagne or dry sparkling wine (to top)

A few notes on making this:

  • We recently tried this lovely cocktail in London while having tea. It’s light, refreshing, and so festive
  • There are a few different variations of this cocktail floating around, but this is my favorite.
  • Make your own simple syrup—it’s easy and so much better than the bottled stuff—Heat one cup of water with one cup of sugar until dissolved. Chill.

Instructions

  • Chill a coupe glass thoroughly.
  • In a shaker filled with ice, combine:
    • Gin
    • Vermouth
    • Lemon juice
    • Simple syrup
    • Orange bitters
  • Shake briefly (about 8–10 seconds — you want it cold, not diluted).
  • Double strain into the chilled coupe.
  • Top gently with Champagne.
  • Garnish with a lemon twist (express the oils over the glass, then discard or rest on the rim).
