Summer will make a dramatic entrance in the U.S. this week with a heat dome that will bring stifling heat and uncomfortable humidity to millions. The heat will be particularly worrisome this weekend across wide stretches of Nebraska, Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa, where forecasters are warning of extreme temperature impacts. This will be the first stretch of true summertime weather for many from Midwest to the East Coast, according to meteorologist Tom Kines of AccuWeather. The soupy conditions will stretch into next week and the humid conditions will make it feel extra toasty.

Iranian Missiles Hit a Hospital and Wound Over 200. Israel Threatens Iran's Top Leader.

Israel’s defense minister threatened Iran’s supreme leader after Iranian missiles damaged a hospital in southern Israel and hit residential buildings near Tel Aviv. At least 240 people were wounded. Meanwhile Israel struck a heavy water reactor linked to Iran’s nuclear program. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz blamed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and said the military “has been instructed and knows that in order to achieve all of its goals, this man absolutely should not continue to exist.” U.S. officials said earlier this week that President Donald Trump had vetoed an Israeli plan to kill Khamenei. Trump later said there were no plans to kill him for now.

Israel Threatens Iran's Supreme Leader as Iranian Strikes Wound Over 200

An Iranian missile has hit the main hospital in southern Israel, wounding people and causing extensive damage but no serious injuries. Other missiles hit a high-rise apartment building in Tel Aviv and other sites in central Israel on Thursday. At least 240 people were wounded by the Iranian missiles, four of them seriously, according to Israel’s Health Ministry. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz blamed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and said he “should not continue to exist.” Israel, meanwhile, carried out strikes on Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor, its latest attack on Iran’s sprawling nuclear program. Iranian state TV said the facility had been evacuated before the attack.
