Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek has declared a state of emergency to help keep fuel supplies steady ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
The move comes as the Olympic Pipeline — which provides more than 90% of Oregon’s fuel — remains shut down after a leak was discovered near Everett, Washington. BP crews have been working around the clock to locate the source of the leak, excavating roughly 200 feet of the 400-mile pipeline.
The emergency order temporarily waives certain regulations for commercial drivers hauling fuel, allowing trucks and ships to help maintain supply across the state.
State officials say they do not expect fuel shortages in Portland or at Portland International Airport, but drivers may experience higher prices as deliveries become more expensive during the outage.
A woman in Thailand was discovered alive inside her coffin just moments before she was scheduled for cremation.
The 65-year-old woman’s brother had brought her to a Buddhist temple near Bangkok, believing she had died. Temple staff heard a faint knock from the coffin and opened it to find her moving her arms and head.
Temple officials said they will cover her medical expenses as she recovers from the frightening ordeal.
The Pentagon is investigating Democratic Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona after the former Navy pilot appeared in a video calling on U.S. troops to defy what he described as “illegal orders.”
Pentagon officials cited a federal law that allows retired service members to be recalled to active duty and face possible court-martial or other actions if they violate military rules.
Kelly dismissed the investigation as the work of “bullies,” saying he has always upheld his oath to the Constitution.
It is extremely rare for the Pentagon to publicly threaten a sitting member of Congress with an investigation.

The discussion highlights the implications of deconstructing historical figures and events, particularly in the context of socialist ideologies.

The Justice Department has renewed its request to unseal transcripts of grand jury proceedings that led to sex trafficking charges against Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. In a court filing Monday, federal prosecutors argued that the materials should be made public under a new law requiring the government to open up its files on the late financier and his longtime confidante. Manhattan U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton cited the Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed into law last week by President Donald Trump, in court filings asking federal judges to reconsider their prior decisions to keep the material sealed.
President Donald Trump says he will visit Beijing in April and host China’s President Xi Jinping for a state visit later next year. Trump and Xi also spoke by phone on Monday to discuss trade, Taiwan and Ukraine. China’s Foreign Ministry said that Xi told Trump that Taiwan’s return to mainland China is “an integral part of the postwar international order.” Trump said the two sides have kept their trade agreements “current and accurate” and that the leaders now can set their sights on the big picture.
The United States on Monday formally designated Venezuela's Cartel de los Soles as a foreign terrorist organization, layering additional terrorism-related sanctions on the group it has said includes President Nicolas Maduro and other high-ranking officials.
Venezuela's government rejected what it called a "ridiculous" U.S. plan to designate the "non-existent" group.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said this month the U.S. would designate Cartel de los Soles, or Cartel of the Suns, as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO) for the network's alleged role in importing illegal drugs into the U.S.
Maduro faces escalating pressure from President Donald Trump's U.S. military buildup in the Caribbean, raising concerns that the U.S. may seek to use the designation to justify military action. Sanctions experts, however, have said the statute for the designation does not authorize such a move.
The U.S. for months has waged a campaign of deadly strikes against suspected drug trafficking boats off the Venezuelan coast and the Pacific coast of Latin America. Reuters reported on Saturday that the U.S. is poised to launch a new phase of Venezuela-related operations in the coming days.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the designation would bring "a whole bunch of new options to the United States," in excerpts released on Thursday from an interview with One America News.
U.S. officials have accused Cartel de los Soles of working with the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, which Washington also ties to Maduro and previously designated an FTO, to send illegal narcotics to the U.S.
President Trump is reacting to Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s resignation announcement. The president said after Greene “went bad” — going from a MAGA ally to a critic –it was only a matter of time for her to leave Congress. Despite that compliment, Donald Trump has called the GOP Congresswoman a “traitor” for being critical of party leadership’s handling of health care and the government shutdown
Josh Hammer analyzes Elon Musk's game-changing attempt to reveal foreign operators on X before giving us his hot take on the ultimate foreign operator, the Muslim Brotherhood—and why Trump finally looks set to declare it a foreign terrorist organization. Josh also explains why Qatar, the 21st-century financial and ideological home of the Brotherhood, can no longer have it both ways when it comes to relations with the U.S. Josh is then joined by Luke Moon, executive director of the Philos Project, for a can't miss-conversation about why these latest sinister attempts to divide American Christians and Jews is bound to fail. Luke explains the fallacy of "Christian" arguments against Israel and the Jewish people, as well as why he is optimistic for the future of this all-important alliance.
A federal judge has dismissed the criminal cases against former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James. The judge concluded Monday that the prosecutor who brought the charges at President Donald Trump’s urging was illegally appointed by the Justice Department. The rulings from U.S. District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie amount to a stunning rebuke of the Trump administration’s efforts to target Trump’s political opponents as well as its legal maneuvering to hastily install a loyalist prosecutor willing to file the cases. The orders make Lindsey Halligan the latest Trump administration prosecutor to be disqualified because of the manner in which they were appointed.
