The Ukrainian air force says Russia launched 479 drones at the country in the war’s biggest overnight drone bombardment. It also said 20 missiles of various types were fired at different parts of Ukraine. The attacks usually start late in the evening and end in the morning because drones are harder to see in the dark. Russia has targeted civilian areas of Ukraine with Shahed drones since the start of the war. The U.N. says the attacks have killed more than 12,000 Ukrainian civilians. A recent escalation in aerial attacks has coincided with a renewed Russian battlefield push along eastern and northeastern parts of the roughly 1,000-kilometer (620-mile) front line.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta says the state’s sovereignty was “trampled” by President Donald Trump when he ordered National Guard troops to the immigration protests in Los Angeles. Bonta spoke Monday as he announced plans to sue the Trump administration. He said the state will seek a court order declaring that Trump’s use of the Guard was unlawful and ask for a restraining order to halt the deployment. Bonta said the suit will be filed later Monday.
Los Angeles' Anti-ICE protests devolved into chaos over the weekend. President Trump called in the National Guard as the protests quickly turned into riots. Yet, the media would have you believe that everything was just fine!
National Guard troops faced off with protesters in Los Angeles as tear gas was fired at a growing crowd outside a federal complex hours after the federal troops arrived in the city on President Donald Trump’s orders. The confrontation broke out Sunday in front of the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles as a group of demonstrators shouted insults at members of the guard lined shoulder to shoulder behind plastic riot shields. Around 300 National Guard troops had arrived early Sunday on orders from President Donald Trump following two days of clashes with immigration authorities.
U.S.-China trade talks in London this week are expected to take up a series of disputes that have buffeted relations. Both sides agreed in Geneva last month to a 90-day suspension of most of the tariffs they had imposed on each other in an escalating trade war. Since then, the U.S. and China have exchanged angry words over advanced semiconductors, “rare earths” that are vital to many industries and visas for Chinese students at American universities. The meeting in London follows a phone call last week between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
