This episode delves into the problems plaguing the education system, from the No Child Left Behind Act to the Common Core curriculum, which has led to a decline in the teaching of American government and civics. The professor highlights the importance of understanding the difference between equality and equity, and how the latter is being used to force equal outcomes, rather than providing equal opportunities. He also discusses the impact of the Trump administration's efforts to cut off student loan funding for certain degree programs that don't provide a good return on investment.
The conversation also touches on the issue of censorship on college campuses, where speakers are being silenced and assaulted for their views. The professor emphasizes the importance of critical thinking and the need for students to be exposed to different perspectives, rather than being shielded from opposing viewpoints.
