The Salty Citizen

Clowns to the Left of Me, Jokers to the Right

And here I am, stuck in the middle with you—my fellow salty citizens.

Good news, everybody.
Still no kings here in America.

Just a whole lot of clowns…
and an alarming number of jokers.

One big, beautiful, tent where BOTH the left and right gather their best freaks and frauds to dazzle and distract us to death.

Protests in the public streets.

Procrastination in the elected seats. I’m looking at you, Congress.

Humph. Just bloody brilliant.

Trying To Make Some Sense of It All

This weekend, millions took to the streets for the latest installment of No Kings Day—a protest against a monarchy that does not exist, over grievances they cannot clearly articulate, in costumes that unintentionally made the entire point for me.

Inflatable frogs.
Screaming into cameras.
Self-congratulations for accomplishing precisely nothing. It’s a regular Carnivale!

And entirely business as usual.

The left continues to confuse performance for progress and emotion for effectiveness. But what did you accomplish, mi amigos?!

They are not protesting a king.

They are protesting accountability.

They are protesting consequences.

They are protesting any interruption to their agenda—no matter how destructive it proved to be.

And they are doing it loudly, theatrically, and without a shred of seriousness. If I had popcorn I’d throw it.

But I Can See, It Makes No Sense at All

Here’s the problem though.

We don’t have the luxury of only talking about the left anymore.

Because while the clowns are busy performing…

the jokers on the right are fumbling the hand they were fortuitously dealt.

We were given an opportunity—unexpected, undeserved—I mean the stars aligned in just such away…Biden presidential fraud finally revealed…Trump spared from the sniper’s bullet. Y’all we were not rescued from a hum-drum regular Tuesday. Frankly, we were rescued from the brink of Marxist disaster. Given a last reprieve to regather and deliver a crushing blow to the Mao Mamdani Movement.

And what have we done with it? Lost some momentum and midterms?

Poor Charlie Kirk.

Infighting.
Posturing.
Hot takes.
Personal brands over public good.

An entire conservative influence class that seems more interested in being right online than being effective in real life. Did anyone else not have “Widow’s Grief Shaming” or “Jew Blaming” on their GOP Bingo card besides me?

This was bigger than pouty personalities and ego-stroking alliances and assassinations. We were saving a nation.

GROW UP.

Where is the urgency?

Where is the seriousness?

Where is the follow-through on the very issues that got people to the ballot box in the first place?

  • Government funding chaos
  • No real accountability for the weaponization of institutions
  • A bureaucratic machine that continues humming along like nothing ever happened

The American people did not show up for memery and content creation.

They showed up for course correction.

And yet here we are—

Stuck in the middle.

Arguing with each other.
Fragmenting into camps.
Turning every disagreement into a public spectacle.

We are reacting loudly to the wrong things…
and sleeping through the ones that actually require courage.

Let me be clear:

This moment was not guaranteed. It was not inevitable.

And it certainly was not given so we could waste it trying to win arguments on social media while the real work sits undone because Congress decided to reward themselves with recess.

I’ve Got the Feeling that Something Ain’t Right

We are not living in ordinary times.

We are living in a narrow window where decisive action could actually change the trajectory of this country.

And instead of rising to meet it…we are slowly, foolishly, squandering it.

The left is unserious in its chaos.

The right is seriously derelict in its distractions.

And the people in the middle—the ones working, raising families, trying to live normal lives—are the ones paying for all of it. Let me off this crazy train. I never wanted to see a circus to begin with.

Still no kings in America.

But plenty of people fighting over crowns.

Clowns to the left of me.

Jokers to the right…while the big, beautiful, tent quietly burns.
