Twenty-five years after their last release, beloved Christian alternative band The Waiting is back with its first new song, “Yahweh,” a hard-driving praise anthem arriving October 30 through The Fuel Music.

“If tears of broken sinners are precious in Your sight
Then love the broken melody I sing with all my might
Yahweh, You’re so good me”

The song is a melodic throwback to The Waiting’s signature rock sound, with an updated kick and vertically centered lyrics by Brad Olsen, who wrote the music alongside his brother and co-founder Todd Olsen, and their longtime bandmates Clark Leake and Brandon Thompson.

“Yahweh was the first song we wrote after we completely restarted the album a couple of times,” said Brad Olsen. “It was originally called ‘Abba Father,’ but ‘Yahweh’ sang better. It was also originally in 4/4, but my brother Todd put it in 7/4 time. I think he did that instinctively because the number 7 represents perfection or completeness in the scripture- which is appropriate for a song about God The Father. However, it’s easily the hardest song to play and sing on the album.”

The new song is the first taste of the band’s new music with a full release scheduled for March 2027.
