Bringing the body of Christ to knowledge of the Son of God and all that he has done and to be able to walk even as he walked and to do the works that he even did which Jesus Christ promised in his word that we would do the same works that he has done and even greater because he is going to the Father that is because it will be the Holy Spirit within us doing the very works that Christ Jesus done.

In this message from Sunday, January 23, 2011, we hear the "call narrative" from Matthew 4:12-23. We look at how Jesus chose the men he did and wonder why he selected these particular men and not others. We wonder what it means to be fishers of people and what happens if "fishing" isn't our particular calling. Then we realize that Jesus is calling everyday, ordinary, regular folks to reach everyday, ordinary, regular folks. Perhaps there is someone someplace who needs to hear from you in a particular way that ONLY you can accomplish. I guess it doesn't matter whether you like fishing or not...Jesus has something for you to do.
This message from Sunday, January 16, 2011, examines the text John 1:29-42 and asks us to think about who we believe Jesus is. Our understanding of who Jesus is affects how we respond to our call to be a disciple of Jesus. The decision to follow Jesus must include our knowledge of what we are looking for in Jesus. Ultimately, when we "come and see" who Christ truly is, we come to realize that Jesus is whatever we are looking for and everything we need.

Because of our remaining humanness and susceptibility to sin and doubt, the Holy Spirit also helps us in our weakness. In this context, weakness doubtless refers to our human condition in general, not to specific weaknesses. The point is that, even after salvation, we are characterized by spiritual weakness. Acting morally, speaking the truth, witnessing for the Lord, or doing any other good thing happens only by the power of the Spirit working in and through us despite our human limitations.
The Spirit supplies us with all we need to be faithful, effective, and
