Shock.

President Donald Trump fired the controversial FBI director James Comey yesterday afternoon. The news set off shock waves across the country with Senators and celebrities reacting to the announcement.

Politicians like Senator Chuck Shumer (D-NY), a former critic of Comey, reportedly told the President that the termination was a "big mistake" and called for a special prosecutor to investigate the Russian interference into last year's presidential election. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) also reacted negatively to the news saying that he was "disappointed" in the decision, according to The Hill

Other Republicans, such as Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), were more open to the decision, according to the Washington Post, with Collins noting that "[A]ny suggestion that this is somehow going to stop the FBI’s investigation of the attempts by the Russians to influence the elections last fall is really patently absurd."

Celebrities, many of whom were once extremely critical of Comey, were not as divided as the Senators though. West Wing star Bradley Whitford called for a special prosecutor while others such as Michael Moore suggested that there's much more to the story to come.

Check out some of the reactions below.
